WHY?
Why do we do the things we do?
Why are we Christians?
Is it so that we don’t go to hell?
Why do we give?
Is it so that it would come back to us in good measure, shaken together and running over?
Why?
Why do we do the things we do?
Let Jesus be the reason
Let Love be the reason

I just realized that I ask a lot of questions. Don’t mind me; I am actually tired of myself but you are not allowed to get tired of me. I wrote this sometimes last year in my diary and I really can’t remember what inspired it. I was just wondering why we do the things we do. You know, some people are just so scared of hellfire, which is why they became Christians, and I noticed that most of these people are the very “religious” ones. They love traditions so much and they want to do everything possible to ‘bribe’ God not to condemn them, They forget the part of the bible that says, ‘it is not by works.”

Ephesians 2:8–9 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast.” New International Version (NIV)

Some people also give because they believe that when they give, they get a double portion later. They give because they believe that ‘Givers never lack’. I’m not disputing the fact that we get blessed when we give; I’m not saying we are not going to get anything in return when we give but we should change our motive. Why can’t we do all these things because we love God? Why can’t we be selfless and just do good as an expression of love?

If we lose everything we’ve got, are we still going to serve God? If heaven and hell were just illusions, are we still going to love Jesus?

Love should be the reason, and Jesus Christ should be the reason for all our actions and inactions, not what we are going to get in return. Romans 8:28; Ephesians 5:1; Romans 12:9

Romans 12:9 “Don’t just pretend to love others. I really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good.” New Living Translation (NLT)
